Marketing and Consumer Behavior

Wageningen University

Erica van Herpen is Associate Professor at the Marketing and Consumer Behavior Group of Wageningen University. Her research focuses on consumer decisions in retail and in-home settings. She examines how consumers can be stimulated to buy more sustainable food products, and how consumers use food products.

Her recent work focuses especially on the collateral damage of household food management, that is, waste of food and packaging. Ongoing research shows which factors influence household waste, validates methods to measure this waste, and assesses the impact of interventions to diminish waste.
